The Mississippi River defines New Orleans geography but most hotels ignore it. All four of these properties provide elevated river perspectives impossible from ground level. The Mississippi is a working river with constant ship traffic. Container ships, oil tankers, and barge tows pass 24 hours daily. Watching this industrial ballet from upper-floor rooms or rooftop bars shows New Orleans’ port economy in action.

One11 Hotel, 111 Iberville Street, French Quarter.

Opened 2023 in a former sugar refinery built 1850, the One11 Hotel is the first new hotel constructed in the French Quarter in 50 years. The building sat vacant for decades before $40 million renovation. Upper-floor rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows facing the river. The rooftop bar overlooks the Mississippi and French Quarter. Rates $250-$450. The hotel preserved industrial elements: exposed brick, timber beams, and original sugar refinery machinery displayed in the lobby. Phone: (504) 355-5605.

The Westin New Orleans, 100 Iberville Street, Canal Street.

The high-rise Westin sits at Canal Street and the river. The lobby is on the 11th floor giving immediate elevated views. River-facing rooms look directly at the Mississippi’s bend. The Wiseguy cocktail lounge on the 11th floor has panoramic river views. Rates $180-$350. The hotel’s height advantage shows the full sweep of the river, the Algiers Point on the opposite bank, and port activity upstream. Phone: (504) 566-7006.

Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans, 2 Canal Street, CBD.

This Four Sesaons hotel occupies floors 7-23 of the former World Trade Center building built 1968. River-view rooms face the Mississippi and Algiers Point. The rooftop pool and bar on the 33rd floor offer the city’s highest river vantage point. Rates $400-$700. This is luxury lodging with river views as premium feature. The building’s brutalist architecture contrasts with French Quarter’s historic aesthetic but provides unobstructed sightlines. Phone: (504) 434-5000.

The Jax Brewery Condos, 600 Decatur Street, French Quarter.

The 1891 Jackson Brewery operated until 1974 then sat vacant before conversion to condos and retail. Upper-floor condos rent as short-term accommodations through Airbnb and VRBO. River-facing units have balconies overlooking the Mississippi, Algiers Ferry, and Jackson Square. Rates $150-$400 depending on unit size and season. The building is part of the French Quarter’s active riverfront. You’re steps from Jackson Square, Café du Monde, and the Algiers Ferry. No central booking, search individual rental listings.
