Key Takeaways

  • Show premieres March 9 on National Geographic

  • Yang serves as both host and executive producer

  • Format embraces cooking mistakes as learning opportunities

Former “Fresh Off the Boat” star Hudson Yang debuts his new National Geographic series “Crash Course Cuisine,” premiering March 9, 2025. The show takes a refreshingly authentic approach to cooking television by highlighting the mistakes and challenges that come with learning culinary skills.

Unique Concept distinguishes the series from traditional cooking shows:

  • Embraces cooking failures as learning opportunities
  • Features world-renowned chefs as mentors
  • Makes professional techniques accessible to home cooks

Cultural Exploration plays a central role. “This show has given me an incredible opportunity to reconnect with my Asian heritage through food,” says Yang, who serves as both host and executive producer of the series.

Educational Approach begins with fundamentals. The premiere episode, “Back to the Basics,” focuses on essential cooking skills that form the foundation of more advanced techniques, providing viewers with practical knowledge they can apply immediately.

Now 21 and a student at Harvard University, Yang brings his characteristic authenticity to this new venture. “I’m not pretending to be an expert,” Yang explains. “I’m learning alongside the viewers, making the same mistakes many home cooks make.”

This series represents Yang’s first major television project since concluding his six-season run on ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat” in 2020, where he portrayed a young Eddie Huang.
