Royal Caribbean is creating a new beach hotspot in Mexico. Perfect Day Mexico will open in fall 2027 on Mexico’s Caribbean coast near Mahahual. At 230 acres, it’s twice the size of their Bahamas destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

The star attraction is Jaguar’s Peak – a 170-foot water slide tower that’s the tallest in all of North and South America. Thrill-seekers can choose from over 30 water slides. Some are record-breaking raft slides that fit four to six people at once. Want an adrenaline rush without theme park crowds? These slides will do the trick.

Want to relax? Float down the world’s longest lazy river – and it’s free with your cruise. There’s even a “crazy river” section with rapids if you want more action. You can grab drinks at the “Tubes and Tequila” bars without leaving the water. The tubes even have built-in cupholders! Hot from the Mexican sun? This river is the perfect way to cool off.

Though Perfect Day Mexico offers thrilling waterslides and cultural experiences, those seeking deeper relaxation might find inspiration in the trend of luxury resorts transforming digital disconnection into ultimate wellness experiences through exclusive bracelet programs and ancient Mayan traditions.

The heart of it all is Fiesta Plaza with its giant 20-meter sombrero that houses the Tipsy Sombrero bar. From here, you can hop on colorful Mexican-style boats called trajineras to get around. These boats aren’t just transportation – they’re part of the fun and culture.

The project puts real Mexican culture front and center. Royal Caribbean worked with Mexican architects and tested designs with locals to get things right. You’ll see authentic Mexican symbols, bright colors, live music, and local art throughout the destination. It’s all about showing off what makes Mexico special.

“Perfect Day Mexico is bigger and bolder than anything we have done to date,” says Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “This destination will be the ultimate vacation for families, and we cannot wait to welcome adventurers from around the world to Mexico for an experience only Royal Caribbean can provide.”

Food lovers will find 12 different places to eat. Half the menu items are Mexican dishes. Best part? Most food is included in your cruise fare. You’ll get both familiar American foods and local Mexican favorites. At night, smart lighting creates a fun party vibe while keeping the tropical feeling.

Want to splurge? Try the Costa Beach Club with its fancy amenities (extra charge). On a budget? Head to Chill Beach North or South for free loungers, towels, and umbrellas. Adults should check out El Hideaway with its massive 50,000-square-foot party pool, in-water DJs, and the world’s largest tequila bottle.

The entire place is split into seven different areas or “neighborhoods.” Each area has its own vibe. Loco Waterpark has the thrills. Splash Cove is perfect for families. Want privacy? Rent one of 141 cabanas at various price points. Tired of one-size-fits-all beach spots? Here, everyone can find their own perfect spot.

You can only visit on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Ships will sail from Galveston, New Orleans, and Florida starting in late 2027. Bookings open in fall 2025. Many trips will include both Perfect Day Mexico and other stops like Cozumel. Future plans even include cruises that visit both this location and Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

As Kara Wallace, chief marketing officer for Royal Caribbean, explains: “Vacationers trust us to help them make every moment a memory, which is why we are changing the game with unforgettable experiences at Perfect Day Mexico and beyond.”

Whether floating along the lazy river with a margarita in hand or plunging down record-setting slides, Perfect Day Mexico promises to deliver an experience that blends adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion when it welcomes its first visitors two years from now.
